Know what Sky Deck is
Sky Deck is a viewing level near the top of Crown Sydney with an open-air balcony and an indoor viewing area. Crown places it "83 floors above" the harbour. It's open to the public, not just hotel guests, through guided tours led by a concierge. The tour is free and lasts 30 minutes.
Book on the first, at noon
Mark the date
Crown releases Sky Deck places on the first day of each month at 12pm, for visits in the following month. If you're coming in March, book on 1 February.
Book in your own name
Every reservation must be in the name of the people attending. Bookings can't be held, transferred or sold. External tour groups aren't permitted.
Arrive dressed for the building
Crown's dress standard applies: smart casual, no thongs, activewear or work wear.
Leave the bag
Large items, including handbags, backpacks, prams, overcoats and all tripods, go into a free secure locker before the tour.
Cancel early
To change or cancel, email sky.deck@crownsydney.com.au at least 24 hours ahead.
Read the floor number as Crown's
"83 floors above" is how Crown describes Sky Deck. The Barangaroo precinct and Wikipedia count 75 floors in the building. Crown's level labels and the count of storeys don't line up, and Crown doesn't explain why. What isn't in doubt is that it's the highest public vantage point in the tower; the building is 271.3 metres tall, per Crown.
Plan for the weather
Crown says tours may be cancelled at short notice in high wind or rain, and that the view depends on cloud cover. Build a little slack into your plans and look at the forecast the evening before.
Get there with a wheelchair
Wheelchair access is available, and Crown's security team can assist throughout. Tell your tour host in advance about any accessibility needs so they can plan your arrival.
Fit it into a stay
If you can only get a daytime slot, take it and save the evening for CIRQ on level 26, which faces Circular Quay. If you get a late-afternoon slot, go straight from Sky Deck to the pool for the adults-only hour from 6pm. Our one-night plan shows how the pieces fit.
