Arrive on foot, by water or under the harbour

Crown Sydney is a short walk from the CBD's western edge, with a ferry wharf at its door. You don't need a car, and the hotel would rather you didn't bring one.

Crown's casino page gives the Wynyard walk as ten minutes rather than nine. The difference is the lift and the escalators; allow ten with luggage.

Walk from Wynyard

Follow the signs inside Wynyard to Exit 4 for Barangaroo and take the Wynyard Walk tunnel out to Napoleon Plaza, then cross the Sussex Street bridge, per the Barangaroo precinct's directions. From there the tower is in front of you. The first part is a tunnel, which helps in rain.

Take the metro

The Barangaroo metro station sits beneath the northern end of Hickson Road, with its entry at Nawi Cove. The precinct lists indicative times of about two minutes to Martin Place, three to North Sydney and six to Central. For a hotel guest the useful part is Central: it puts the country and interstate trains a few minutes away.

Arrive by ferry

Barangaroo Wharf opened on 26 June 2017 and is served by the F3 and F4 routes. Coming in by water is the best first look at the tower: you see the whole of it rising over the boardwalk restaurants before you step off. From the wharf it's about five minutes to the hotel.

Come by water taxi

Water taxis can drop off and pick up at the Barangaroo Pontoon in front of Crown, opposite a'Mare. Crown says the pontoon takes vessels up to 140 tonnes and 25 metres and needs no permit, though skippers must follow the signage. Nawi Cove and King Street Wharf are the precinct's other options.

Get in from the airport

The T8 Airport and South Line runs from stations beneath the airport terminals, every day from about 5am to midnight, according to Transport for NSW. A station access fee applies on top of the normal fare at the airport stations. Change at Central for the metro to Barangaroo, or ride through to Wynyard and walk. We haven't found a published door-to-door time for this trip, so we don't give one.

Mind the footpath works

The Barangaroo precinct noted that a stretch of the Hickson Road footpath was closed for metro station works when we checked, with pedestrians sent along the foreshore promenade, Wulugul Walk, or High Street. The foreshore is the nicer walk anyway.
